Our staff combines for over 60 years of teaching and coaching experience. Separately we are athletes,
teachers, Marines, coaches, and fathers. Together we are dedicated to improving the fitness level
and performance of today’s youth. We are:
Bob Killen teaches World History and AP Government and Politics at Concord High School.
He learned to appreciate the art of overcoming physical and mental challenges as a United States Marine
with the Fleet Anti-Terrorism and Security Team Company. Coach Killen is a veteran of military operations
to Somalia and Haiti. After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1998, he began a seven year
stint as a Varsity Boys Lacrosse Coach.
His accomplishments during that time include being named the
2003 DE Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year and bringing Concord Boys Lacrosse to its first ever playoff
appearance. Bob continues to challenge himself as a participant in long distance running events.
He has successfully completed four marathons and seven 50K’s to date.
Jim "Soupy" Campbell earned his Bachelors degree from the University of Delaware and his Masters in
Educational Technology from Wilmington University. After teaching Economics and Finance for ten years, he
now teaches Health and Physical Education at Thomas McKean High School. He learned what hard work and
dedication are all about in various weight rooms and playing fields over the past twenty years. He has
been certified as a Fitness Trainer through International Sports Science Association and is currently
awaiting his credentials for his certification as a Specialist in Sports Conditioning.
Jim has coached
many sports at McKean including soccer, football, indoor & outdoor track, softball, golf, and weight
room supervisor where he served as strength and conditioning coach. He is a member of the Red Clay
Wellness Committee and he also created and runs the McKean Faculty & Student Fitness Clubs. Jim played
rugby for the University of Delaware and has competed successfully in body building shows. Coach Campbell
continues to constantly push himself to his physical limits through a host of physical activities
including running 50K’s with his good friend Coach Killen.
Bill Coughlin is a Bio Technology teacher at McKean High School where he was Teacher of
the Year in 2005. Bill coached four years of competitive swimming ages 6-18 at Oakwood Valley
swim club as well as four years of Girls swimming at McKean. Bill served as an assistant coach
for Boys Soccer at McKean starting in 1999 and became head coach in 2006. Bill was also head coach
for girls soccer from 1999 to 2008.
Coach Coughlin was selected as Flight A coach of the year in 2002.
Bill serves as a member of the sportsmanship committee at McKean. He is also a volunteer with field
set up on game days for the Hockessin Soccer Club. Bill has been a member of the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America since 1999.
Robert Wolford is a Health and Physical Education teacher at the Conrad Schools of Science where
he is the head football coach, the strength & conditioning coordinator & the assistant baseball coach.
Bob received his Bachelors in Health and Physical Education as well as his Masters in Professional
Development from the University of Delaware. Bob played inside linebacker for the Fightin’ Blue Hens
and was the Captain of the 1991 team. Bob served as a graduate assistant football coach at the University
from 1992 to 1994.
Coach Wolford taught Health & Physical Education at McKean High School from 1995-2007
where he was the assistant varsity football coach & defensive coordinator. During his time at McKean,
Bob was the strength and conditioning coach, as well as the assistant baseball, basketball, track,
wrestling, and golf coach.
Chris Wells is a Health & Physical Education teacher at Stanton Middle School. He is a graduate of
Salesianum High School and the University of Delaware where he played Rugby from 1991-1995. Chris has
coached football at Salesianum from 1995 until the present. He played rugby for the Wilmington Men’s club
from 1996 to 2005. Chris coached the Wilmington Colts High School Rugby Football Club from 1996 until 2008.
Coach Wells developed and ran the student fitness program at the Positive Learning Center from 1998 to 2000.
Coach Wells has also assisted in the summer lifting program for Salesianum Football.
